Before you begin
You need a Shopify store with admin access and the URL of your supplier's XML feed. Open the URL in a browser once: it should display XML with a repeating product element. If it downloads a ZIP or asks for a login, ask the supplier for a direct feed link. See XML feed requirements.
Install and connect
Follow the steps below. The whole process takes about ten minutes for a typical feed.
- Install the app from the Shopify App Store.
- Add a feed under Settings and paste the URL.
- Set pricing options: price multiplier, compare-at multiplier, taxable, draft.
- Start the import and watch the progress bar.
- Enable sync for price and stock.
Reviewing the first import
Import as drafts the first time. In Shopify admin, filter products by status Draft, open a few and check title, variants, images, price and inventory. If something is mapped wrongly, message support from the app with the product SKU; the profile is adjusted and the next run corrects all products.
Next steps
- Understand how often updates run in sync schedule.
- Add a margin with pricing rules.
- Learn what happens to products missing from the feed.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a paid plan to connect a feed?
You can install the app and add a feed for free. Running the import and scheduled updates requires a plan; the app asks you to pick one when you start the first import.
Can I test with a small feed first?
Yes. Any valid XML URL works, including a test file your supplier gives you. Delete the feed afterwards to remove the connection.
